Daily Kos

Blockhead? Toddler? Whiny Bitch? Reactionary?

WTF is going on here?  The top diary on the recc list personally insults the site's founder, and comments w/i the diary go downhill from there?

I don't always agree w/ Markos.  I still think, for example, that he too casually dismissed the cloud of suspicion that hung around the 2004 election results.   I would never dream, however, of engaging in such personal invective against any poster on this site.  I sure as hell wouldn't do it against this site's founder.

I view Obama's approach to this issue similarly to how Kos views it.  I have made it clear here, here, and here that I differ w/ him about the cause of this shift.  I think that it's about campaign $ from big donors much more than it's about fear of the 527s.

Either way, I have tried to keep all of my posts on this contentious issue w/i the bounds of civility.  I think that those who are defending Obama's actions here are profoundly mistaken.  I think that a former Harvard Law Review prez and a Con Law lecturer knows better here.  I also think that his latest response, while an improvement over prior responses, is woefully inadequate.

There's no evidence that Obama is doing anything to help his Senate colleagues who are fighting immunity.  The vote, last I heard, is on Tuesday, it's now Thursday night, and people will be kind of preoccupied for the next 3 days.  Whatever efforts he apparently intends to exert will be in the last few hours before the vote.

W/i a few hours after the vote, as my links above noted, he will be attending a $28,500/head fundraiser at Sen. Rockefeller's house.  We all know what Dem senator, above all, has been the primary purveyor of this s**t sandwich of a bill.  It's kind of difficult to push really hard against a bill all day and have the bill's most determined advocate raise $ for you at night.

What's really ironic here is that the "blockhead" crowd is so impressed by the respect that Obama has shown this site.  They don't however, show anything close to respect to the founder of this site.  That double standard speaks volumes about this situation.
