Torture's Truth

What follows is a summary with some critique of the article Torture's Truth, by Louis Michael Seidman which Appeared in the Summer 2005 issue of the University of Chicago Law Review.
This Diary is basically 1/3 of my final exam for a course on Civil Liberties. The assignment was to summarize the main points of the article, and then provide some commentary.
I summarized much and commented little.
But I feel like it's an important subject and certainly one that Kossaks would be interested in. If anyone wants a copy of the article I can send it to you via email.
Chomsky on why we don't (or can't) leave Iraq

A few days ago Jon the Antizionist Jew excerpted this interview with Noam Chomsky on AlterNet.
Whereas Jon discussed Chomsky's comments on the Israeli-Palestinian issue, I want to talk about some comments Chomsky made later in the interview about oil interests in Iraq and what is at stake in a US departure.
Of Krauthammer and Dog Poo: A Tale of Two LTE's

On Friday I wrote two letters to the editor of the New York Daily News. These letters are published in their Voice of the People section. If you only read the Daily News you would think that New York City was as red as western Nebraska. They seem to print only the most virulent, ill informed and downright stupid letters, so I didn't think I had much of a chance of getting in.
The first letter was a critique of Charles Krauthammer's idiocy. The other was on increasing fines for not picking up dog poop.
One was printed.
Read them both below the fold.

This is my first diary on DailyKos. If you hover over the hallowed UID you will see I've been here for a little while. It took me a few months to make my first comment, it took longer to post my first diary. I've been trying to get a diary together for a while. And that's why I couldn't write one, because I was trying. This one happened by accident.
For the past few month's I've been posting Quotes of the Day on my Myspace page. Today's quote ran a little long so I figured I would diary it and see what happens.
Here is today's Quote of the Day:
